Polaroid camera serial number decoder
Find out when your Polaroid camera was made
This tool decodes serial numbers from Polaroid instant cameras to determine the exact date of manufacture. For SX-70 folding cameras, Sonar models, and SLR 680 cameras (1972-1989), this decoder provides the exact day, month, and year using the original Polaroid repair manual algorithm. For Land Camera rollfilm and packfilm models (1948-1978), production year ranges are provided. The serial number is typically found stamped on the camera body: on SX-70 cameras, look under the upper camera back lip above the film door latch; on Land cameras, check behind the leveling foot on the camera bed or inside the film door.
Tip: For SX-70, Sonar, and SLR 680 cameras, entering the model name provides exact dating to the day and shift. For Land cameras, the model provides the production year range. The serial number format differs by camera type — check the location guide above.
