Although Leo Fender founded Fender in 1946 it was not until 1963 that they produced their first acoustic guitars, the King, Concert, Classic and Folk. Initially the company produced electric instruments (lap steel guitars) and amplifiers. In time Fender moved into producing (and innovating) electric guitars and eventually, in 1963 they added acoustic guitars to their line-up.

The Fender acoustic guitars were designed to be used by everyday people, not just the classical players and professional musicians, in their own words "for throwing in the car and hitting the beach".

Over the years they have expanded their acoustic range to include 12 string guitars, banjos, mandolins, resonator guitars and ukuleles. All of these are included in my Fender acoustic database.
